VISIONAL DICTIONARY

For this GIMP assignment we had to take multiple pictures and put them together to create a visual definition of a word. The word I picked was "ululate" and its definition is: howl or wail as an expression of strong emotion, typically grief. I used pictures of a women who is grieving in front of a tomb stone. Also I used a picture of a wolf to represent howling. Then I added a broken heart and some tears and sad smiley faces. This is how it turned out:

assignment #6 PORTRAIT ;)

For this assignment I chose to take portrait pictures of my sister. I put her in front of a plain white and a brown wall in our house so the background wouldn't be distracting. I tried to take pictures of her laughing cause she's a very funny person. I like the one I chose for my best picture because it brings out her smile and her pretty-ness :).

assignment #5 STILL LIFE ;)

For this photo assignment I chose to take pictures for Still Life. I was at home and just looked for things that I could use, and I found this baseball. I put it in front of a black background (our TV), then I edited it a little bit in photoshop and GIMP. I chose this one as my best picture because I like the reflection.

PANORAMIC

For this GIMP assignment we had to take three pictures. We had to edit them and put them together so it looks like one picture instead of three separate ones. We used different techniques for example the move-tool, the eraser-tool and the perspective tool. I chose the gym to take pictures which was kind of a bad idea since there were so many different lines incorporated into the ceiling, and it was hard to line them all up and make it look like it was one picture.

assignment #4 EVENT ;)

This weekend I went to the fiddlers concert and tried to get some good shots of them playing. But that didn't work out because the lighting in the auditorium was too dark, and they were too far away. So instead of trying to get a picture of the fiddlers, I tried to capture a good shot of the audience. I like the one I picked as my best photo because it shows a guy reading the program from an unusual perspective.

PORTRAIT DEMO.

For this assignment we had to take two portrait pictures. One, in the studio with all the studio lights, and one, in front of the window. I chose nick as my "model" because he's funny and it is really easy to capture a good shot.We did this assignment to compare the two different portrait-taking techniques and the different use of light. In the end we edited and put the pictures together using GIMP.

assignment #3 BLACK & WHITE ;)

For this assignment I went outside and shot pictures of my backyard and my house. Then I went inside and shot a couple of random pictures of my piano and flowers. I decided to make them black and white because I like how it makes it look more mysterious and mellow :). For my best picture I chose the one with the tree because I love how the branches are so defined and how the snow makes a good background .
